Halloween Show: The Hobbit

The Hobbit

The Hobbit was Joel Goulet, Noel Von Joo, Daven Hayes, Cody Scott, Allen Maxwell and Natalie Head.

1.    Why did you choose the Hobbit?

Natalie Head: Joel chose it, I just invited myself along.

Daven Hayes: It would have been a crime not to.

Cody Scott: Joel chose it, and i excitedly agreed to it because I figured it was my foot in the door for Halloween bands to come.

2.    Describe the Halloween show in 3 words.

NH: I’m so happy.

DH: music, drunk, bro

CS: Funnest thing ever.

3.    What’s your favorite song from the soundtrack?

NH: Where theres a whip, there’s a way!

DH: Where there’s a Whip there’s a way, mostly because it’s NOT on the soundtrack

CS: The part of Gandalf’s reflection we opened with.

4.    Was there a song you wished you could have played but you didn’t?

NH: No, but sets and some scenes would have been real good.

DH: The song that goes “…and the funny little things.” can’t remember the name

CS: Not really.

5.    What other Halloween show band would you have loved to be in?

NH: 24 hour party people

DH: All of them?

CS: Every year I think of something I’d like to do, but I either think of it too late or I don’t think I can convince anyone to be in it with me.

6.    What other soundtrack that didn’t get picked would you have wanted to do?

NH: Dirty Dancing

DH: Caddyshack, or Labyrinth.

CS: I really wanted to do Angus, but I thought of it kind of late, and I think me and the other dudes I’d convince to be in it would have been the only people to enjoy it. That soundtrack has the best Weezer song and the best green Day song.

7.    How did you all come together for this band?

NH: Nerds flock together

DH: Craigslist

CS: Joel planned it, and needed a dwarf chorus. Not playing an instrument and singing with other people is right up my alley.

8.    How often did you practice?

NH: I practiced once.

DH: More than you would think

CS: Just once as a group, but I practiced my parts in the car a couple of times.

9.    How hard was it to sing in a beard?

NH: Not as much as possible, being on my knees however, sucked.

DH: Yes?

CS: Not very. I’m used it.

10. Will you ever revive the Hobbit band once the new movie comes out?

NH: Fuck I’d do it for the video game.

DH: do I even need to answer that?

CS: Good idea. Maybe we can busk in the line for a midnight showing?

11.What do you love most about the Halloween show?

NH: That I am reminded I have the greatest friends on earth, and (for that night at least) I live in the best city in the world.

DH: Music, bro, drunk

CS: Seeing a bunch of people doing the most ridiculous shit, yet somehow making it sound amazing, and everyone being totally into what everyone else is doing.

12.   What other Halloween show bands have you been in the past?

NH: the Shangra La’s, Beastie Boys, Flaming Lips, Poison

DH: Bushwick Bill, enough said.

CS: None.

13.   What do you think next year’s theme should be?

NH: New York.

DH: Has there been a novelty records one yet? Anything from Flying purple people eaters, to Shatners albums, to a Mcdonalds records. I also think Buckner and Garcia would count so there’s enough incentive right there.  And the Chipmunks.

CS: The South.
